OSAGE CITY — Juanita Simmers, 97, formerly of Topeka, died Monday, Dec. 18,2000, at an Osage City nursing home.
Mrs. Simmers taught school in Rossville for many years.
She was born Dec. 18,1903, in Osage City, the daughter of Steve and Mary K. McGinty Williams. She graduated from Osage City High School and Emporia State Teachers College.
Mrs. Simmers was a 50-year member of Loyal Chapter No. 176 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Silver Lake, the Emporia State University Alumni Association and the State School Retirement System of Kansas.
She married Lloyd Simmers on June 15,
1946, in Manhattan. He preceded her in death
Sept. 23,1979.
Several cousins survive.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Crable
Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Burial in the Osage City Cemetery will be private. Mrs. Simmers will lie in state from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Responders in Reading or Osage City, sent in care of the funeral chapel.
