    John Stadler
    John Stadler, 83, Topeka, died Sunday, August 6,2000, at a Topeka care center.

    He was born December 16, 1916, in Topeka, the son of Nicholas and Barbara Walter Stadler. He was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 35 years before he retired in 1981.

    He served in die Army during World War II.

    He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Local No. 308 of United Steel Workers of America and a life member of Billard Post No. 1650 of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

    He married Alfreda Funck- Meinders November 25, 1943, in Atlanta. She survives.

    Other survivors include two sons, John Edward Stadler and Richard Alfred Stadler, both in Topeka; a daughter, Roberta Irene Stadler, Topeka; three brothers, George Stadler, Phoenix, AZ, Sylvester Stadler, Topeka, and Nicholas Stadler, Wichita; four sisters, Marcella Ruff, Rossville, Mildred Wallace and Irene Mader, both in Topeka, Kathryn Lombardi, Kenvil, NJ, and Ruth Cornelison, Newton; and two grandchildren. A daughter, Margaret Marie Stadler, died April 18, 1948.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Billard Post No. 1650 of Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct a graveside service in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Topeka. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
