    Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Decker of Rossville announce the marriage of their daughter, Charlotte, to Mr. Norman Steele, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Steele of St. Marys.

    The double-ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Paul Kapp in the St. Marys Methodist Church Saturday, Sept. 27, at 7:00 P.M.

    The bride was lovely in a blue lace dress with black accessories. She carried a bridal bouquet of chrysanthemums and carnations. She was attended by her sister, Mrs. Frank Stach, of Rossville. Mr. Carl Carlson of St. Marys served as best man.

    After the ceremony the wedding party which included relatives of the couple, went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Steele where the gifts were opened.

    Mr. and Mrs. Norman Steele are now making their home north of St. Marys.

    ST. MARYS — C. Norman Steele, 55, St. Marys, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1992, at a motel in Rochester, N.Y.

    Mr. Steele was an interstate truck driver for Trans-Am Trucking Co. in
    Lenexa and a licensed real estate broker. He was also a master plumber and operated a plumbing business in St. Marys.

    He was born Sept. 21, 1937, in Topeka. He grew up in St. Marys. He served with the National Guard in Topeka. He moved to Addison, Texas, in 1965, where he attended the Texas Union Trade School. He moved to DeSoto in 1966 and worked for the Sunflower Army Ammunition Depot. He moved to St. Marys in 1968, where he worked for Goodyear for 10 years. He earned an associate degree in business and management from Washburn University in 1986.

    He was a member of St. Marys United Methodist Church and the Teamsters Union.

    He was married to Charlotte Decker on Sept. 27, 1958. They were divorced. He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney D. Steele, on July 24, 1991.

    Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Del Castillo, Shawnee; a son, Russell Steele, St. Marys; his mother, Willa Steele, St. Marys; a sister, Kay Lenherr, Topeka; and a brother, Duane Steele, Jetmore; and five grandchildren.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Marys United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in St. Marys. Mr. Steele will lie in state after 1 p.m. Friday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys, where friends and relatives will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
