| Anniversary- Matyak, Paul and Genevieve 1 Matyak Couple To Celebrate 45th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Genevieve Matyak will be honored for their 45th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, July 28th, at the American Legion in Rossville. A reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. with a dance following at 9 p.m. All relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
Hosts for the occasion will be their children: Paul J. Matyak, Ed Matyak, Dorothy Barnes, Roxie Fath, Topeka; Rick Matyak, Delia; Monica Matyak, Lawrence; and families.
Paul Matyak and Genevieve Grace were married July 26th, 1945, at Sacred Heart Church and made their home in Delia. They started their own auto repair business, Matyak's Garage, in 1945. Paul worked as an auto mechanic and Genevieve handled all the accounting and record keeping for the business and customers. He recently retired after 45 years of service to the Delia community. She is still employed as treasurer of the Delia City Council.
The Matyak's have nine grandchildren.

Paul and Genevieve Matyak, Delia, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an ice cream social from 2 to 4 p.m. July 23 in the Community Building in Delia.
It will be hosted by their children and their families, Paul J. Matyak, Delia; Ed and Kathy Matyak, Topeka; Dorothy Barnes and Eldon Fastrup, Topeka; Roxie and David Fath, Tecumseh; Rick and Melody Matyak, Delia; and Monica and Jay Steiner, Olathe. The couple have nine grandchildren.
Paul Frank Matyak and Genevieve Clare Grace were married July 26, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia.
Mr. Matyak, who owned and operated Matyak’s Garage in Delia, retired after 45 years of service. Mrs. Matyak was bookkeeper for Matyak’s Garage for approximately 45 years and was Delia city treasurer or 19 years.

Jay is a 1988 graduate of Boulder High School, Colorado, and a 1992 graduate of the University of Kansas, where he also received a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism. He is an advertising account executive for “The Kansas City Star,” Kansas City, Mo.
An October 1, 1994 wedding will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Overland Park.

Monica Grace (Matyak) Steiner of Olathe, KS passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sat, Aug. 10, 2013, while vacationing with family in Colorado.
Monica was born on March 2, 1970, the daughter of Paul and Genevieve Matyak of Delia, KS. She graduated from The William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at The University of Kansas in 1992 and went on to a successful 17-year career at Marketshare Publications in Overland Park, KS.
Monica married Jay Steiner on Oct. 1,1994 and has two children, daughter Lauren Grace and son Lance Matthew of the home. Monica enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, exercising, cooking, traveling and being with friends, but nothing delighted her more than being with her loving family. Throughout her journey with cancer, she was an inspiration to many. She was recognized with The Adversity Award from the Kansas City Sports Commission's WIN organization for her courageous approach to continue to live strong throughout her battle. She was proud of her efforts with The University of Kansas Cancer Center to bring more awareness and research to fight metastatic cancer. Proceeding her in death were her mother, Genevieve (Grace) Matyak, father, Paul Frank Matyak, and brother Paul Joseph Matyak. Monica is survived by her husband, Jay Steiner, daughter, Lauren, and son Lance of Olathe, siblings Ed (Kathy) Matyak, Dorothy (Eldon) Fastrup, Roxie (David) Fath, Topeka, and Rick (Melody) Matyak, Delia, and many special nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus in the BEST Conference Center, 12604 Quivira Rd. in Overland Park, KS.
