    Dorothea E. Stewart
    OSAGE CITY - Dorothea E. Stewart, 83, Osage City, died Monday, April 19, 1993, at an Osage City nursing home.

    Mrs. Stewart worked in Osage City grocery stores and many years for Swarts Men's Store and Mina's Clothing Store before she retired six years ago.

    She was born Jan. 30, 1910, in St. Marys, the youngest of eight children of John and Mary Vandiver Wells. She grew up on a farm near Delia, then moved to Osage City in 1937.

    Mrs. Stewart was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school classes and was active in Presbyterian Women. She also was a member and past worthy matron of Ruth Chapter No. 52 of the Order of Eastern Star in Osage City.

    She married Lawrence M. Stewart on March 3, 1929, in Topeka. He survives.

    Other survivors include a son, Lawrence M. Stewart Jr., Marshalltown, Iowa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Osage City Cemetery. Mrs. Stewart will lie in state from 3 until 8 p.m. today at Crable Funeral Chapel, where family and friends will meet from 7 until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
