    Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dale Stiles are at home in Rossville.

    Before their marriage Nov. 29 in Sacred Heart Church in Delia, Mrs. Stiles was Linda Kathren Tomson. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Tomson, Delia, and Mr. Stiles is the son of Mrs. Howard N. Stiles, Rossville, and the late Mr. Stiles.

    The Rev. George Seuferling celebrated the nuptial mass, and servers were John Floersch and Mike Kerwin.

    The bride's white velvet gown had an Empire bodice, bishop sleeves and an A-line skirt. Denise lace trimmed the stand-up neckline and encircled the waistline. The court train was chapel length. There veil was held by a face framing headpiece of lace daisies centered with an organza bow. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

    Alice Zeller, Rossville, was maid of honor and Debra Mitchell, Rossville, was bridesmaid. The bride's sister, Carol Tomson, Delia, was junior bridesmaid. Donna Zeller, Rossville, was flower girl, and Craig John Thomson, Rossville, carried the rings.

    Cody Joe Mitchell, Rossville, served as best man and groomsmen were Dennis Sumner, Delia, and Carl Farley, Rossville. Guests were seated by the bride's brothers, Gary Tomson and Lloyd Tomson, both of Rossville.

    Mrs. Stiles is a graduate of Rossville High School and is employed by Munns Medical Supply Co., Inc., Mr. Stiles was graduated from Rossville High School and North Central Kansas Area Vocational and Technical School, Beloit. He is employed by Henry Corp.

    Burdett-Stiles Ceremony Held in August

    Miss Stephanie Kay Burdett and Mr. Howard Dale Stiles were united in marriage on Friday. August 16, 1974, at the Rossville United Methodist Church. The Reverend William Hurtig heard the exchange of vows in a candlelight ceremony at 7:00 in the evening.

    Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Burdett and Mrs. Gertrude Stiles, all of Rossville.

    The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length gown of white polyester with a bishop's collar. Her net veil was held in place with a pearl and rhinestone tiara. She carried a nosegay bouquet of pink and white daisies.

    Shelley Conklin, Topeka, maid of honor, and Linda Heslet, Rossville, bridesmaid, wore gowns made of pink dotted swiss.

    Karen and Jim Preble, children of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Preble. Rossville, served as flower girl and ring bearer. Candlelighters were Jill and Mike Richards, children of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Richards, Rossville.

    Mr. Stiles' best man was Douglas Fairbanks, Delia. Ushers were Andrew and Charles Burdett. brothers of the bride.

    Janice Myers, Rossville, played organ selections preceding and during the ceremony. Vocalists were Debbie Little, Delia, and Randy Dick, Rossville.

    A reception was held in the American Legion building in Rossville.

    Following a wedding' trip to Kansas City, the couple is at home in Rossville where the bride is a P.L.S. volunteer. Mr. Stiles is employed by Allis-Chalmers in Topeka. Mr. and Mrs. Stiles are both graduates of Rossville High School.

    Engagement Announced

    Mr. and Mrs. Walter Burdett, Rossville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephanie Kay, to Howard Dale Stiles, son of Mrs. Gertrude Stiles.

    Miss Burdett will graduate from Rossville High School in May. She is presently employed at the State Office Building Canteen. Mr. Stiles is employed by Allis-Chalmers.

    The couple will be married August 16, 1974, at the Rossville United Methodist Church.

    Howard D. Stiles
    Howard Dale Stiles, 57, Rossville, died Sunday, August 28, 2005, at St. Francis Health Center, Topeka.

    He was born June 30, 1948, in Topeka, the son of Howard Norris and Gertrude Fox Stiles.

    He had lived in the Rossville community all of his life.

    Dale grew up in Rossville and graduated from Rossville High School in 1966. He attended Vo-Tech school at Beloit, where he studied welding. He had worked for Allis Chalmers in Topeka for 19 years, and later was self-employed. He was a past member of the Rossville Lions Club and the Rossville Jaycees.

    On October 18, 1997, he married Toni Holloway Hudson at Rossville. She survives. His father, Howard N. Stiles, died August 8, 1964, and a half-brother, Monte Lee Stiles, died June 27, 2005.

    Other survivors include a step-daughter, Mandy Hudson, Topeka; a stepson, Brian Hudson, Rossville; three sisters, Laura Miller, Las Vegas, NV, Marie Owens and Jean Schneider, both of Rossville; and his mother, Gertrude Skidmore, Rossville.

    His service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Rossville United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be in Rossville Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rossville United Methodist Church.
