    William Sullivan
    William J. Sullivan, 81, St. Marys, died Sunday in a Topeka hospital where he had been a patient since March 10.

    He was born June 26, 1893, in Kaw Township in Wabaunsee County and spent most of his life in the St. Marys community. He was a veteran of World War I, having served with the 319th Squadron in the Army in France.

    He formerly worked for the Kansas attorney general’s office in Topeka and later was city marshal at St. Marys 26 years before he retired in 1959.

    He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at St. Marys and Veterans of Foreign Wars and Pottawatomie Barracks of World War I Veterans, both at Wamego.

    He was married to LaMoyne Winsor Feb. 2, 1941, at St. Marys. She survives. A foster son, Cloyes Winsor, died in 1958.

    Other survivors include four foster daughters, Mrs. Cleo Pearl, Dickinson, Tex., Mrs. Cora Lee Brody, Naugatuck, Conn., Barbara Stewart, Kansas City, Kan., and Mary Stewart, Parsippany, N.J.; and several grandchildren.

    Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at St. Marys. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
