The children of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sumner, Mayetta, will honor their parents upon the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, Mar. 29, with a reception at the Delia Grade School.
Friends and relatives are asked to call between three and five o’clock p.m. The couple asks that no gifts be presented.
There are nine living children: Mrs. Chester Lutz, Mayetta; John Sumner, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Ted Sumner, Hereford, Tex.; Ray Sumner, Tacoma, Wash.; Everett Sumner, and Bob Sumner, Delia; Dale Sumner, and Don Sumner, Topeka; Bill Sumner, of Manhattan.
A son, Cleve Sumner, died in 1963.
Mr. and Mrs. Sumner were married Apr. 4, 1910, in Topeka. They have 31 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.

Rossville City Councilman Everett L.
Sumner, 56, was found dead northeast of
Rossville Saturday afternoon with a shotgun wound to the head, Shawnee County authorities said.
Det. Jerry Federgreen of the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Department said the wound was self-inflicted with a 12-gauge shotgun found near the body.
Sumner’s body was found along a county road near a cemetery by several area residents. It is assumed he died sometime Friday, September 10, 1976.
He was born January 13,1920 at Delia and spent his life in the Delia and Rossville communities. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army in Germany and Alaska.
He was a member of the Christian Church at Rossville where he was an elder and taught Sunday School. He was a member of Delia Lodge No. 419, AF&AM, at Delia. He was employed at the Topeka Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. plant.
He was married to Naomi Keller October 24, 1945, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Randal Sumner, Rossville; and three daughters, Mrs. Leslie Paine and Mrs. Karen Leeper, both of Rossville, and Anita Sumner, at home.
Also surviving are seven brothers, John Sumner, Cheyenne, Wyo., Melvin Sumner, Hereford, Tex., Raymond Sumner, Tacoma, Wash., Dale Sumner, Estes Park, Colo., Charles Robert Sumner, Delia, Donald Sumner, Topeka, and William Sumner, Silver Lake; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Lutz, Holton, and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday (this afternoon) in the Christian Church at
Rossville. Burial will be in Delia Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Church at Rossville. Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys is in charge of arrangements. The casket will remain closed. Casket bearers are: Jerry Lutz, Lindsay Keller, Douglas Fairbanks, Dennis Sumner, Derrick Sumner and Dwayne Sumner, all nephews of the deceased.
