• Documents		Obituary- Sumner, Walter 1 Walter L. Sumner Walter Levi Sumner, 83, Route 1, Holton, died Sunday in a Topeka hospital where he was readmitted Feb. 18. He had been admitted to the same hospital Sept. 14, 1971, and later released. He was born May 16, 1888, in the St. Clere community north of Emmett and spent most of his life in the community southwest of Holton. He was a member of Pottawatomie United Methodist Church west of Mayetta. He had been a farmer and stockman. He was married to Maude E. Murrow April 4, 1910. She survives. A son, Cleve N. Sumner, died May 22,1963. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ethel J. Lutz, Route 1, Holton; eight sons, John Marion Sumner, Rock Springs, Wyo., M. W. (Ted) Sumner, Hereford, Tex., Raymond A. Sumner, Tacoma, Wash., Everett L. Sumner, Rossville, Dale E. Sumner, Estes Park, Colo., Charles R. Sumner, Delia, Donald L. Sumner, 4638 N.W. 35th, and William H. Sumner, Manhattan; a sister, Mrs. Alma Blaylock, Topeka; 31 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home at Holton. Burial will be in Delia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
