C.D. “Donald” Thompson, 64, Delia, died Tuesday, May 27, 1986, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Thompson was a farmer and was a receiving clerk at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka before he retired in 1983.
He was born October 28, 1921, at Delia, the son of Chris E. and Maude Fleming Thompson. He spent his life in the Delia and Rossville areas.
Mr. Thompson was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Delia and was an elder at the church. He was a member of Local No. 307 of United Rubber Workers of America, and the cemetery boards of Adrian, Cross Creek and Mount Olive cemeteries in Adrian Township in Jackson County. He also was treasurer of Jackson County Rural Water District No. 2.
He was married to Vena Countryman September 11, 1945, at Lyndon. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Janet S. Mulanax, Topeka; a son, Donald R. Thompson, Topeka; his mother, Mrs. Maude Thompson, Delia; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 10 step- great-grandchildren.
Services were at 11 a.m. Friday in the Presbyterian Church in Delia. Burial was in Adrian Cemetery, north of Delia. Relatives and friends met from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church in Delia.
