| Obituary- Timmons, Lyle LYLE W. TIMMONS
Lyle W. Timmons, age 95, of Manhattan, Kansas, died July 29, 2013, at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Wamego, Kansas.
He was born on September 30, 1917, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Riley S. and Viola Baxter Timmons
Mr. Timmons served with the United States Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Mr. Timmons moved to Manhattan in 1945 where he was a carpenter by trade. He worked in both residential and commercial construction and was superintendent for several area contractors including Milligan Construction and Cheney Construction.
On January 9,1941, in Manhattan, Kansas he was united in marriage to the former Lillian “Lucille” Lind. She preceded him in death in 1997. Mr. Timmons was also preceded in death by three brothers: Louis L., Carroll and Melvin Timmons.
He is survived by his son: Robert D. Timmons of San Antonio, Texas, his sister: Betty Jane Kusler of Sabetha, Kansas, and by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at the Yorgensen-Meloan- Londeen Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Pastor Lori Schwilling officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan.
