Ernest Tschantz, 93, Rossville, died Thursday, May 7, 1987, at a Junction City nursing home. Mr. Tschantz was a self-employed harvester. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I.
He was born November 28, 1893, in Dover, Ohio, the son of John and Elizabeth Zimmerman Tschantz.
Mr. Tschantz was a member of the Lutheran Church and Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Regina Terry and Mrs. Ernestine Humphrey, Topeka; two sons, Bob Tschantz, Manhattan, and Don Tschantz, Topeka; five sisters, Mrs. Hattie Schull and Mrs. Emma McCrery, Dover, Ohio, Mrs. Gertrude Mizer, Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Salome Newton, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Mrs. Lillian Crites, New Philadelphia, Ohio; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Military graveside services were conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, in Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 1405 S. Hydraulic, Wichita, 67214. Brennan Funeral Home of Topeka was in charge of arrangements.
