    Kenneth J. VandeVelde
    Kenneth J. VandeVelde, 36, Emmett, died Friday, January 7, 1983, at a Topeka hospital after an extended illness.

    He was born August 7, 1946, at Emmett, the son of Raymond and Margaret Soetart VandeVelde. He lived in the Emmett and St. Marys communities all his life.

    Mr. VandeVelde was a farmer and dispatcher for Mid West Fly Ash Co.

    He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church at Emmett, and North Post No. 400 of the American Legion at Topeka. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and served during 1969.

    He married Vicki Myers January 27, 1968, at Topeka. She survives.

    Other survivors include two daughters, Amy Lynn VandeVelde and Kimberly Anne VandeVelde, both of the home; a son, Michael Jerome VandeVelde, of the home; his mother, Mrs. Margaret VandeVelde, Emmett; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Blair, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four brothers, Raymond C. VandeVelde, St. Marys, Joseph VandeVelde, Rossville, James VandeVelde, Delia, and Edward VandeVelde, Emmett.

    Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Emmett. A wake service was at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Verschelden Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center oncology department, 1700 W. 7th, Topeka.
