    WILFORD R. VILVEN
    Wilford R. Vilven, 77, Wamego, died Saturday, May 10, 1980, at a hospital here after a long illness.

    He was born November 20, 1902, near Wamego in Wabaunsee County, the son of Arthur and Gertrude Banks Vilven. He lived in the Wamego area all his life.

    Mr. Vilven was a florist and a farmer. He owned and operated the Harmony Gardens Wholesale Greenhouse in Wamego until his retirement in 1968. He then owned and operated Leisure Acres Strawberry and Fish Farm, also of Wamego.

    He was past president of the Wamego Lions Club, where he recently was awarded the 40-year membership pin. He also was past president of the Wamego Historical Society. Mr. Vilven was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church and the Wamego Chamber of Commerce. He was past secretary- treasurer of the Kansas Commercial Fish Growers Association and a member of the Catfish Farmers of America.

    He married Georgia Witts December
    5,1923, at Louisville. She survives. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs.
    Edna Spears, Rossville; and a brother, Leland L. Vilven, Wamego.

    Services were at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Burial was in Wamego City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wamego City Hospital memorial fund in care of Kaw Valley State Bank and Trust or the Stewart Funeral Home, both at Wamego.
