    Mrs. Mary B. Wells

    Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier’s Catholic Church in Mayetta for Mrs. Mary B. Wells, 78, formerly of Holton. She died Saturday, Nov. 12, 1988, at a Topeka nursing home.

    She was born Aug. 17, 1910, in Mayetta, the daughter of John and Martha Donnelly Slattery. She was graduated from Mayetta High School in 1929 and spent most of her life in the Holton community.

    Mrs. Wells was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Holton.

    She was married to James C. Wells in 1938 at Hiawatha. He died June 29, 1988.

    Survivors include a daughter, Jeanice Wells, Mayetta; and three sisters, Margaret Slattery, Gertrude Brewer and Gladys Tork, all of Topeka.

    Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Hoyt. Mrs. Wells will lie in state from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. today at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today. Contributions may be made to the Mary Wells Memorial Fund to be designated later by relatives and sent in care of the funeral home.
