Frances Louisa Whitlow Frances Louisa Whitlow was born January 27, 1921 to Clarence Edgar and Leah Louise Reynolds Read at Topeka, Kansas. Her release from a long illness came early Saturday morning, January 20, 2007 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas, ending a life of 85 years, 11 months, and 24 days. Frances grew up and attended school in Topeka, graduating from Highland Park High School. On April 24, 1943, Frances was united in marriage with Merton Otis Whitlow at Topeka, Kansas. Two sons and one daughter were born to this union. The couple was privileged to celebrate nearly 60 years of married life together. Merton was a petroleum engineer and his job took them to Wyoming, Nebraska, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Iran. They lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1955 until 2000 when they moved to Beloit to be near their son Stan and daughter-in-law Juanita. While in Tulsa, she was a homemaker, elementary school cook, and a receptionist for the LaMode Cleaners. A kind, very personable and loveable person, Frances treasured her home and family. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family. Frances loved cooking and always looked forward to hosting large family dinners, even when her health would not allow. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Her husband Merton died in February, 2003. In addition, Frances was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter Margaret Irene Stanfield. Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her sons, Stan Whitlow and wife Juanita of Beloit, Kansas; Herb Whitlow and wife Allane of Elgin, Illinois; five grandchildren, nine great Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her sons, Stan Whitlow and wife Juanita of Beloit, Kansas; Herb Whitlow and wife Allane of Elgin, Illinois; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of many relatives and friends. |
