    Vida Whitney
    ST. MARYS - Vida Whitney, 88, formerly of Rossville, died Tuesday in a St. Marys nursing home where she had lived since 1974.

    She was born Feb 20, 1892, in southeast South Dakota, near Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. DeForest Whitney. She moved to rural Rossville in 1912 where she lived until moving to St. Marys.

    Miss Whitney was a seamstress and member of Rossville United Methodist Church, Friendly Circle class at the church, an honorary member of United Methodist Women for nearly 60 years and Countryside Club, all of Rossville.

    Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Carolyn DeAngelis, Seaside Pork, N.J., and Mrs. Louise Dykes, Canton, Ohio; and two nephews. Clay Young, Lawrence, and C.K. Whitney, Wilmington, Del.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rossville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka. Miss Whitney will lie in state until noon Thursday at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys, and from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville United Methodist Church.

    VIDA WHITNEY
    Vida Whitney, 88, formerly of
    Rossville, died Tuesday, March 11, 1980, in a St. Marys nursing home where she had lived since 1974.

    She was born February 20, 1892, in southeast South Dakota, near Akron, Iowa, the daughter of DeForest and Carrie Bellwood Whitney. She moved to rural Rossville in 1912, where she lived until moving to St. Marys.

    Miss Whitney was a seamstress and a member of Rossville United Methodist Church, Friendly Circle class at the church, an honorary member of United Methodist Women for nearly 60 years, and a member of Countryside Club, all of Rossville.
