    Norville G. Wingate
    Norville G. Wingate, 86, Topeka, died Friday, July 10, 1992, at a Topeka retirement home.
    Mr. Wingate joined Commerce Bank and Trust of Topeka in 1960, where he was senior vice president and a member of the board of directors for 32 years. He previously was executive director of Urban Renewal of Topeka during the planning, acquisition and relocation phases of the program. He and a partner founded radio station KTOP in 1947 in Topeka. He also owned farm implement businesses in Rossville and Emporia and was active in the ranching and cattle businesses.
    He began working for Phillips Petroleum Company in Kansas City, Mo., then was transferred to Topeka as a manager in June 1940. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
    He was born April 17, 1906, in Sedalia, Mo., the son of Anthony Earl and Elta D. Gregory Wingate. He attended schools in St. Joseph and Kansas City.
    He was a guard on the Amateur Athletic Union basketball team that won the championship of the United States in 1928.
    Mr. Wingate was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Topeka Rotary Club, chamber of commerce, Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion and Topeka Country Club. He was treasurer 25 years on the board of Cerebral Palsy in Topeka. He also was a 50-year member of Temple Masonic Lodge in Kansas City, Mo.
    He was married to Frances Burrow of Topeka in June 1940. She survives.
    Other survivors include two daughters, Margaret Wingate Elstun, Atlanta, Ga., and Carolyn Wingate Zimmerman, Denver, Colo.; a son, Dr. Gregory Burrow Wingate, Phoenix, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
    Services were 10 a.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church. Entombment was in Mount Hope Mausoleum.
    Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.
