| Obituary- Wonnell, Arabelle Belle Wonnell
SILVER LAKE -- Arabelle "Belle" Wonnell, 97, Silver Lake, died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at a Topeka retirement center.
She was born April 13, 1903, in Silver Lake, to Abraham and Maude Moser Shenk. She graduated from Rossville High School in 1922 and received a double teaching certificate. She was a telephone operator in Rossville and later was employed by Capper Publications in Topeka as a proofreader.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and XYZ Senior Citizens Club, both in Silver Lake, and was a member of Loyal Chapter No. 176 of Order of Easter Star in Silver Lake for 40 years. She was a graduate of the Flo V. Menninger Bible Course.
She was a charter member of the Grove Family, Community and Education group for 65 years and a charter member of the Grove Harvest Grange for 38 years. She served for more than 40 years on the Grove Election Board.
She married David W. Wonnell on March 18, 1931, in Junction City. They lived on a farm in the Grove community north of Silver Lake for many years. He died Aug. 21, 1984.
Survivors include a son, Leonard D. Wonnell, Silver Lake; a brother, Lloyd N. Shenk, Independence, Kan.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Laske. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Grove. Mrs. Wonnell will lie in state after 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
