    Melvin Wood
    Melvin Richard Wood was born at Cameron, New York, May 18th, 1866, and passed away at his farm home north of Rossville, Monday, August 17th.

    Mr. Wood came to this state with his parents in 1881 at the age of 15 years and located with his parents north of Rossville.

    In 1891 he was married to Miss Margaret Ann Taylor who departed this life in 1900. There were four children born to this union.

    He leaves to mourn his loss two sons, Frank Wood of the home address; Riley Wood of Carbondale, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Rezac of Emmett and Mrs. Pearl Reser of Rossville; one sister, Mrs. W.H. Zickefoose of Emmett; one brother, Dennis Wood of Topeka; two stepbrothers, George Wood of Topeka, and Emmett Wood, Guthrie, Okla.; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

    Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon conducted by the Rev. H.E. Straw. Music was furnished by Mrs. Arthur Wallerstedt, Mrs. C.E. Gresser, Mrs. E.G. Griswold and Mrs. Margaret Witter with Miss Lucille Griswold as pianist. The pallbearers were Frank Schraeder, Frank Page, Hudson McCollough, Emil Kovar and Tom Smatla.

    Interment was in the Rossville cemetery.

    Mr. and Mrs. George Kovar and son of Kansas City were in Rossville, Wednesday, to attend the funeral of her uncle, Mel Wood.

    Mr. and Mrs. Warner Rogers and baby of the Dover neighborhood, were in Rossville Wednesday to attend the funeral of Mel Wood.
