    J. R. “JACK” ATHON
    John Russell “Jack” Athon, 70, Overbrook, died Sunday, i December 7, 1986, at a Topeka I hospital.
    Mr. Athon worked for the federal government 28 years. He worked at Sunflower Ordnance Works in DeSoto, the Topeka Supply Depot and Forbes Air Force Base. He later worked for the State of Kansas in the computer department before he retired in 1983.
    He was bom August 22, 1916, in Topeka, the son of Edgar and Florence Davidson Athon. He was graduated from Michigan Valley High School in 1938. He lived in Overbrook since 1949.
    Mr. Athon was a member of the United Methodist Church and Ridgeway Lodge No. 62, AF&AM, both in Overbrook.
    He was married to Margaret Ema Trendel May 24, 1939, in Rossville. She survives.
    Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Saundra Glascock, New Albany, Ind., Mrs. Deborah Greenfield and Mrs. Kelly Mabon, both of Overbrook; two brothers, Albert “Mike” Athon, Tonganoxie, and Tom Athon, Carbondale; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church at Overbrook. Ridgeway Lodge No. 62, AF&AM conducted graveside services in Overbrook Cemetery.
    Relatives and friends met from i 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Green- ' wood-Roberts Funeral Home in Overbrook. Memorial con¬tributions may be made to the Overbrook Library.
