| Obituary- Woodford, DeWitt Fall from loft fatal
DeWitt C. Woodford, 76, died Monday morning at his home on Route 1, Silver Lake, from the effects of a fall from his hay loft Saturday morning. He was born January 29, 1861, at Phillip, W. Va., and came to Kansas in 1887. He had made his home in the vicinity of Silver Lake for 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Woodford; three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Cochran, Route 6, North Topeka; Mrs. Lillie Price, San Bernardino, Calif.; and Mrs. Lloyd Cole, Meriden; five sons, Boyd A. Woodford, Silver Lake; Robert Woodford, Everett, Wash.; Orvel D. Woodford, Topeka; Clarence Woodford, Belvue, and Melvin Woodford, Abilene, and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at 2 o’clock at Peebler’s funeral home
The body lay in state at the funeral home until the funeral hour. Burial was in Prairie Home cemetery.
