Mr. and Mrs. Ignac Horak of Delia quietly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at their home. Only close relation and friends joined them for the occasion.
Ignac Horak was married to Veronica Hejtmanek on November 8, 1908, in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. Mr. Horak came to the United States in May, 1912, and Mrs. Horak and their two children followed six months later in November.
They are parents of eight children including one set of twins, Mrs. Rose Davis, Bakerfield, California; Rudy Horak, Taft, California; Albert Horak, Grover City, California; Irene Collett, Camas, Washington; Eddie Horak, Trip City, Ohio; Bennie Horak and Emily Dodge of Delia; and Esther Wehner of Rossville. There are 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Horak worked on the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years and is now retired. He is at present janitor for the Delia Grade School.
Those who helped Mr. and Mrs. Horak observe the anniversary were: Rev. and Mrs. Robert Bough- ton, Mrs. Theresa Hromada of Rossville, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Martinek Sr. of Silver Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rosser and Marilyn. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Keller, Mrs. George Olejnik Sr. of Delia, their oldest son Rudy Horak of Taft, California, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dodge and family, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Wehner and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Horak and family. Mrs. Theresa Hromada and Mrs. George Olejnik are sisters of Mrs. Ignac Horak.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dodge, Delia, will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a reception in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 1990, at the Rossville Presbyterian Church, Rossville.
Hosts for the occasion will be their children: Jim and Jan Dodge, Rossville; Joanne and Mike Bruce, Huntsville, Tx.
Leonard D. Dodge and Emily S. Horak were married September 1, 1940, in Topeka. They have five grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts, please.

Leonard D. and Emily S. Dodge of Delia will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 3 with a family dinner in Kansas City.
Hosts will be their son and his wife and grandchildren.
The couple also plan to celebrate with a future trip to Memphis and New Orleans.
Leonard Dodge and Emily Horak were married Sept. 1,1940, in Topeka.
Their children are Jim and Jan Dodge, Rossville, and Mike and Joanne Bruce, Huntsville, Texas. The couple have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dodge farmed in the Rossville and Delia area for many years and retired from farming in 1987. He continues to work part- time as a security guard at the Jeffrey Energy Center.
Mrs. Dodge retired from the U.S. Postal Service and continues as a homemaker.

They were married Sept. 1, 1940, in Topeka and have lived in the Delia and Rossville area throughout their marriage.

Their children are compiling a "Memories” scrapbook and would welcome any additions about special times shared with the couple.

Emily S. Dodge, 97, formerly of Rossville and Delia passed away Saturday, July 23 ,2016at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka.
She was born April 15,1919 in a small log cabin south of Delia the daughter of Ignac and Veronica Hejtmanek Horak. She graduated from Goldenrod Country School and from Delia High School in 1937.
Emily worked in Topeka for a few years and in 1959 started working at the Delia Post Office, after 20 years of service she retired in 1979. She and her husband Leonard farmed in the Delia community. She helped raise hogs and cattle and raised a garden.
They lived in the Delia community from 1946 until their farm sale in June 2004 when they moved to Rossville. They later moved to Topeka. She was a member of the Delia Presbyterian Church. Emily graduated from the Menninger Bible Course many years ago. One of the highlights of her life was when she and Leonard along with some of her siblings and their spouses took an 18 day trip to Czechoslovakia to visit relatives and to see the homeland.
On September 1,1940 she was united in marriage to Leonard Dodge in Topeka. He preceded her in death on February 11,2011. Her parents, five siblings and two grandsons also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Jim (Janet) Dodge, Rossville; her daughter, Joanne (Mike) Bruce, Huntsville, TX.; two sisters, Irene Collett, Washington and Esther Wehner Rossville; four grandchildren; David (Colleen) Dodge, Karen (Jerry) Manhart, Kevin Bruce and Stehphanie Bruce, great-grandchildren, Casey, Darrin and Danielle Dodge, Abbie and Chad Manhart, Maddison, Regan, Damian and Malcom Bruce and a great-great-grandson Adam Boudreau; many nieces and nephews
Funeral services were Thursday, July 28,2016 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment followed in the Delia Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delia Presbyterian Church, The Good Samaritan Fund at the Presbyterian Manor or Grace Hospice and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
