    Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Spears of Rossville announce the marriage of their daughter, Ruth Elaine, to Mr. William B. Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Larson of Canby, Minnesota. The double ring ceremony took place January 25 at 8:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Topeka, with Dr. Robert Crothers officiating. Mr. Larson is employed by the Carpenter Paper Co. in Topeka. The couple is at home at 615 West 15th, Topeka.

    Larsons to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
    Bill and Ruth Larson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception, dinner and dance from 4 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27 at the American Legion, 442 Main Street, Rossville.

    Ruth E. Spears and William Larson were married Jan. 25,1957 in Topeka. Their sons and spouses are Robert and Annie Larson of Rossville and James and Pamela Larson of Lenexa.

    Their grandchildren are Charlotte and Jared Pemberton of Fayetteville, NC; Garrett Larson of Rossville and Rex Larson, Trey Borchers and Victoria Borchers of Lenexa.

    Their great-grandson is Desmond Pemberton of Fayetteville, NC.

    The Larsons would enjoy sharing this special event with all their friends and relatives. They request no gifts, please.

    Mary Ann Reuter and Robert Gordon Larson exchanged wedding vows on Sunday, January 11, 1981, at the
    Rossville United Methodist Church. The double ring ceremony was heard by the Reverend Larry Buss. Parents of the couple are Jim and Margin Reuter, St. Marys, and Bill and Ruth Larson, Rossville.

    Sue Reuter, sister of the bride, was her maid of honor. Sara Reuter, also a sister of the bridge, was her attendant.

    The couple’s wedding colors were apricot and brown. The bridge wore an ivory full length gown she made of satin with a chiffon overlay. The bridesmaids gowns were made of the same design as the bride’s, with an apricot satin. The gowns were made by Sue and Margie Reuter.

    The men in the wedding party wore brown tuxedos. The groom wore an ivory tuxedo with satin accents.

    Rick Matyak, friend of the groom, was best man. Jim Larson, brother of the groom, was a groomsman.

    Candlelighter for the ceremony was Steve VandeVelde. Zack Reuter, brother of the bride, Lloyd George, and Steve. VandeVelde were ushers.

    Chris Reimler sat at the guest book.

    A reception was held in the church hall following the ceremony. The three-layer ivory cake was made by Ruth Larson. The cake was trimmed with fresh flowers. Chris Reimler, Jacque Rial, Tina Holz, Christy Pearl, Helen Lenherr and Stacy Seele, all of St. Marys, helped with the reception.

    The couple is at home at 208 Pottawatomie Street, Rossville.

    Mrs. Larson is a 1980 graduate of St.
    Marys High School. She is attending Crum’s Beauty College in Manhattan, and will graduate in June. Mr. Larson is a 1976 graduate of Rossville High School and attended Bethany College and Kansas State University. He is presently owner and operator of a taxidermy studio in Rossville.

    Mr. and Mrs. William B. Larson are the proud parents of twin sons James LaVerne. Robert weighed 4 lbs. 11 oz. at birth and James weighed 4 lbs. 2 oz. Mrs. Larson is the former Ruth Spears.

    The editors got so excited last week in printing the birth announcement of the new twins born to Bill and Ruth Larson that they really goofed it up. The birth announcement was supposed to have read like this:

    Mr. and Mrs. William B. Larson are the proud parents of twin sons born January 24. They have been named Robert Gordon and James LaVerne. Robert weighed 4 lbs. 11 oz. at birth and James weighed 4 lbs. 2 oz. Mrs. Larson is the former Ruth Spears.

    Mrs. Larson returned home from the hospital Saturday but the twins will remain there in their incubators until they have reached the necessary 5 1/4 lbs. weight.

    A baby shower was given Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Luther McClain in honor of Mrs. Bill and her baby sons, Bobby and Jimmy. Hostesses for the party were Mrs. McClain, Mrs. Donald Queen, and Mrs. Clifford Cormack.

    Appropriate games were enjoyed by the guests, after which refreshments were served.

    Invited guests included Mrs. Larson, and Mesdames Edna Spears, Delores Hesse, Betty Dick, Phyllis Keller, Erma Hoobler, Margie Hoobler, Myrtle Lillard, Betty Lambotte, Winifred Stach, Lena Reding, Ann Hayes, Betty Murray, Hallie Queen, Irene Davis, Evelyn Rezac, Lorene Harth, Mary Decker, Pauline Swenson, Eleanor Jones, Elsie Rasch, Greta Kelsey, Wanda Parr, Anna Lemon, Betty Ann Wade, Margie Starkey, Halcia Cerny, Inez Richardson, Helen Martinek, Georgia Vilven and Marguerite Klingenberg.


    Another shower was given Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Howard French. Mrs. French was assisted by Mrs. William Farley.
