A family celebration earlier this month was held to honor the 50th wedding anniversary of John Kenneth and Ermyl M. (Reeder) Broyles, Delia.
The couple was married July 26, 1953, at Silver Lake.
Mr. Broyles was a farmer. Mrs. Broyles worked for 23 years for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She retired January 31, 1996.
They are the parents of two daughters, Barbara and her husband James Hunt, Garden Plain; and Laura and her husband Rick Anderson, Meriden. They have seven grandchildren.

DELIA--John “Kenneth” Broyles, 86, of Delia, KS passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2015 at Kelly House in Meriden, KS. He was born June 9, 1929 in Jackson County, KS, the son of William Kenneth and Sarah Florence (Smiley) Broyles.
Kenneth graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1947. He was a life-long member of the Delia community as a farmer and stockman. Kenneth proudly served in the United States Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church.
Kenneth married Ermyl M. Reeder on July 26, 1953 in Silver Lake. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Laura Anderson (Rick) of Meriden, KS; a son-in-law, James Hunt of Garden Plains, KS and 7 grandchildren, Jerod, Jimmy and John Hunt and Chris, Matt, Daniel and Nathan Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Hunt in 2012.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Walnut Hill Cemetery, north of Silver Lake. Family greeted friends from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or Grace Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
