Lawson-Davis are wed in Rossville Presbyterian church
Marlene Joyce Lawson and Dean L. Davis were married in a double-ring ceremony read by the Rev. Don Sears in the Rossville Presbyterian Church at 4 p. m. August 26.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Lawson of Maple Hill, and Mr. Davis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Davis of Rossville.
The bride wore a ballerina-length gown of Chantilly lace and tulle designed with basque bodice, Florentine neckline and long, tapered sleeves. The full skirt of tulle and lace ruffles had a lace yoke at the waistline. Her elbow- length veil was caught to a pearl tiara, and she carried a Bible arrangement of pink Sensation roses.
Mrs. Kenneth Carlat,
Maple Hill, was her sister’ s matron of honor and Isolde Kohl, Topeka, was bridesmaid. They wore sheath dresses of rose faille with short jackets. Wedding ring bands of matching faille held their short veils, and they carried nosegays of white feathered carnations.
Gene Davis, twin brother of the bridegroom was best man. Another brother, Roy D. Davis, was groomsman and ushers were Don Rogers and Steve Lucas.
A reception at the church followed the ceremony. Those assisting were: Mrs. Oliver Kitchen, Mrs. Fred McCollough Jr., Mrs. Homer Reid, Mrs. James Rezac, Mrs. Ben Stach, Mrs. John Fauerbach, Cyn¬thia Lucas, Trudy Mee, Berdie Jane Billings, Marlene Johnson, Virginia Rezac and Judy McCollough.
The couple will live at 106 Blue Valley Trailer Court in Manhattan where Mr. Davis will be a sophomore at Kansas State University.
Until her marriage Mrs. Davis was employed by Merchants National Bank in Topeka. Both are graduates of Rossville High School.

Deana Marlene Davis and Rodney Jerome Cowan were united in marriage Saturday, June 20, 1987, at 3:30 in the afternoon at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Fr. John Erickson officiated the double ring ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Dean Davis, Willard, and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cowan, Rossville.
Vince Berry, Rossville, friend of the groom, gave the readings for the ceremony.
Music before and during the ceremony was provided by keyboardist John Depperschmidt, Oakley, friend of the bride, and vocalist Vince Berry.
The bride wore a white crystal organza gown with off-the-shoulder pouffed sleeves and a beaded silk Venice lace bodice with a ruffled flounced skirt trimmed lace through the chapel train. Her headpiece was a wreath of white silk flowers and pearls with illusion fingertip length veiling accented with pearl edging. She carried a bouquet of fresh daisies, pink roses, carnations and ivy.
The groom wore a white Dynasty tuxedo with tails.
Ushers were Greg Hudson and Wade Durkes, Rossville, and Larry Wehner, Topeka, friends of the couple.
Debbie Davis, Willard, was maid of honor for her sister. Bridal attendants were Robyn Dudney and Cara Channel, Rossville, friends of the bride, Jennifer Davis, Rossville, and Dawn Thompson, Topeka, cousins of the bride. Heather Sinning, Topeka, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. The bridesmaids and flower girl wore tea-length purple bridal satin dresses and silk flower wreaths on their heads and carried baskets of fresh flowers.
John Cowan, Lawrence, was best man for his brother. Groomsmen were Kelly Cowan, Kevin Cowan and Shane Cowan, Rossville, brothers of the groom, and Danny Davis, brother of the bride. The groomsmen and ushers wore white Miami Vice tuxedo jackets with black tuxedo pants and purple cumberbunds and ties.
Attending the guest book was Gayla Harbison, Lawrence, friend of the couple.
The reception was held in the Rossville Presbyterian Church hall. Servers were Gayla Harbison; Dana Sinning, Topeka, and Ronda Davis, Rossville, cousins of the bride.
A dinner and dance followed the reception.
Mrs. Cowan graduated from Rossville High School and is a senior at Washburn University, where she is studying English education. Mr. Cowan, also a graduate of Rossville High School, attended Washburn University. He is employed by W.W. Grainger, Inc., Topeka.
The couple vacationed in Estes Park, Colo., and now live in Rossville.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Davis, Willard, announce the engagement of their daughter, Deana Marlene, to Rodney Jerome Cowan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Cowan, Rossville.
Deana graduated from Rossville High School and is attending Washburn University where she is studying English education. She is employed at AAA Kansas in Topeka.
Rodney graduated from Rossville High School and is attending Washburn University where he is studying elementary education. He is employed at W.W. Grainger, Inc., Topeka.
Deana is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russel Lawson, Maple Hill, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Davis, Rossville. She is the great-granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lasswell, St. Marys.
Rodney is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Kerwin and Mr. and Mrs. John Cowan, all of Rossville. He is the great-grandson of Mrs. Gertie Yocum, St. Marys.
The couple is planning to be married June 20, 1987, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rossville.
