[Caption: Mrs. Howard Eugene Deiter formerly Grace Louise Cowan]

Mr. and Mrs. John T. Cowan, Delia, announce the marriage of their daughter, Grace Louise, to Mr. Howard Eugene Deiter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis P. Deiter, Maple Hill.

The wedding took place October 9 at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, Delia. The church was decorated with baskets of yellow and bronze mums. The Rev. M.J. McManus officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

Miss Mary Simecka, organist, played the nuptial music and accompanied Mrs. Robert Kerwin Jr. and Mrs. Teddy McNeive who sang "On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother," "Ava Maria," and "Our Lady of Fatima."

Flower girls, Miss Cathy Hammel, niece of the bride, and Miss Vickie Cowan, cousin of the bride, wore floor-length gowns of aqua net over taffeta with wide sashes and matching ribbons in their hair. They carried white baskets with attached matching corsages, and scattered pink petals in the bridal path.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding gown of imported Chantilly-type hand-clipped lace and nylon tulle over satin made with a long sleeved basque, Peter Pan collar and a sheer yoke outlined with lace scallops over a fluted edging of tulle. The skirt was of tulle with a pannier-peplum of lace edged with fluted tulle extending into panels of lace in the front and back ending in a wide Cathedral train. Her finger-tip veil of illusion was held in place by tiny strips of white satin. Her jewelry was a three-strand necklace of pearls, a gift of the groom. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses.

Maid of honor, Miss Ann Cowan, sister of the bride, wore a floor-length gown of melon colored taffeta with an overskirt of net. It was fashioned with a Peter Pan collard and a wide cummerbund tied in back. Her headdress was a halo of matching taffeta. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink carnations.

Bridesmaids were Mrs. Ralph Howell, Miss Maxine Deiter and Miss Joan Hobart, who wore taffeta gowns with overskirts of net in gold, turquoise, and cocoa brown respectively, styled similar to the maid of honor's. All wore matching halos. They carried bouquets of yellow and bronze pompons.

Best man was Mr. Bill Deiter, brother of the groom. Ushers were Mr. Harold Deiter, Mr. Melvin Deiter and Mr. Robert Deiter, all brothers of the groom.

A reception was held following the ceremony. The table was laid with a white linen cloth and was decorated with bouquets of fall flowers and lighted candles. It was centered with a four-tiered wedding cake decorated with pink roses.

The bride's mother wore a purple dress with black accessories and a corsage of pink carnations. The bridegroom's mother wore a beige dress with black accessories and a pink carnation corsage.

Assisting friends were Mrs. Loren Hammel, who served punch; Mrs. Kelly Phillips, who cut the cake; and Mrs. George Lundin who was in charge of the guest book.

The couple honeymooned in New Orleans and are now at home at 315 West 6th.

The bride chose for traveling a cocoa brown suit with beige accessories and a red rose corsage.

The bride is a graduate of Delia High School and also attended Clark's Business School. She is presently employed in the Santa Fe offices as a comptometer operator. The bridegroom is a graduate of Maple Hill High School and is now engaged in farming.
