  		Marriage- Diehl, Ruth-Martinek, Bennie Diehl-Martinek Wearing a frock of royal blue crepe with accessories of black and carrying a bouquet of red roses, Miss Ruth Diehl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Diehl, was a lovely and winsome bride, when, Tuesday morning she became the bride of Mr. Bennie Martinek, son of Mrs. Agnes Martinek. The wedding took place at the Sacred Heart church at Delia at 6 o'clock Tuesday morning. The Reverend Father W.R. Parry, of St. Marys performed the wedding ceremony. Miss Leona A. Simecka and Mr. Robert Burgett, both of Delia, were the only attendants. Immediately following an 8 o'clock wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents, to the immediate relatives and including the wedding party and a number of friends. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Martinek, Miss Leona Simecka, Mr. Robert Burgett, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Diehl, Mrs. Agnes Martinek, Miss May Martinek, Mr. Emil Martinek, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kovar, and family, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Martinek and family, Mr. Brown of Kansas City; Mrs. Helen Macha, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. Ruth Hoffmeister, Miss Marcella Hoffmeister, of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Marney, Mrs. Robert Meade, Mrs. A.A. Cless, Miss Alice Diehl, Miss Josephine Gideon, Miss Helen Gideon, of Topeka; Mr. Earl Diehl, Miss Alice Diehl, Doris Neitsore. Mrs. Martinek was married on her grandmother, Mrs. George Moore's 78th birthday anniversary. A huge wedding cake and birthday cake for the bride and her grandmother formed a lovely centerpiece for the table. Mrs. Martinek has grown to womanhood in Rossville and completed her grade and high school work in the city schools. She graduated with the class of '35. For some time she has been employed as operator in the Central office. Mr. Martinek is a successful teacher and prosperous farmer. He will teach again this year at Victor school, making his seventh year in that district. Following the wedding breakfast Mr. and Mrs. Martinek left for a week's honeymoon trip to Colorado. The Rev. George Seuferling celebrated the nuptial mass and music was provided by Mrs. Rita Kerwin and Linda Roth. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Parr, and Mr. Martinek is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Martinek, all of Rossville. GIVEN in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown of white taffeta designed with scoop neckline, bridal point sleeves and chapel train. The lace embroidered motif on the bodice was repeated on the train. Her illusion veil fell from a satin rose, and she carried white orchids arranged in the shape of a cross. Linda Parr, who was her sister’s maid of honor, wore a red velveteen dress styled with scoop neckline and bell-shaped skirt. BRIDESMATRONS were Mrs. G. E. Besta, Topeka, another sister of the bride, and Mrs. Wayne Rasch, Wichita. Shirley Lierz, Wetmore, was bridesmaid. They wore green velveteen dresses made like the maid’s of honor. All the attendants carried bouquets of red and white peppermint carnations. Connie Keller, Delia, was flower girl, and Eddie Joe Besta, Topeka, was ring bearer. Best man was the bridegroom’s brother, Dwight Martinek, Rossville. Groomsmen were Tony Leiker, Lawrence; Ray Rafferty, Rossville; and Wayne Rasch, Wichita. Ushers were Frank Ruff, Manhattan, and Brian Palmer and John Garber, Lawrence. FOLLOWING the ceremony a reception was held in the Delia High School auditorium. Those assisting were: Mrs. Raub Zeller, Mission; Mrs. John Boyd Jr., Carolyn Farley and Jane Parr, Rossville; Janice Parr, Washington, D.C.; Sally Nadeau, Emporia; Mary Brethour and Jane Zickefoose, Manhattan; and Bonnie Keller, Delia. The bride, a graduate of Rossville High School and Stewart’s Beauty Academy, was employed in the Lady Be Lovely Salon in Rossville. Mr. Martinek, also a graduate of Rossville High School, is a senior at the University of Kansas where he is majoring in physical education. The couple will live in the Stauffer Apartments on the KU campus.
