Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Maupin of Silver Lake, announce the marriage of their daughter, Marlyn Jean, to Mr. John Francis Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Olson of Silver Bake. The marriage was solemnized in a candle light ceremony, Thursday evening, March 22, at 6:30 at the home of the bride’s parents. The Rev. Earl O. Harbour read the double ring service before a background of Spring flowers and tall white tapers in tiered seven-branch candelabra.

Preceding the ceremony, the candles were lighted by Miss Ermyl Reeder and Mrs. William C. Craig. Both were dressed in navy blue ensembles and wore corsages of pink rosebuds.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a dove-gray suit with navy accessories and carried a white Bible centered with a white orchid.

Miss Beth Shafer, the bride's only attendant, wore a brown and white checked suit with cocoa brown accessories and a shoulder bouquet of yellow roses.

The brides’ twin brother, Mr. Theron L. Maupin served as best man for Mr. Olson.

A small reception was held after the ceremony. The lace-covered table was centered with a tiered wedding cake at each end were white candles in crystal holders. Miss June Snavely cut the cake and the bride’s aunt Mrs. Joe Navarre, poured. Assisting with the serving were Miss Joyce Navarre, Miss Marvalie Tibbs and Miss Clara Wade.

For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Maupin wore a navy printed crepe with black accessories and a corsage of white carnations. Mrs. Olson wore a green printed crepe with brown accessories and a corsage of white carnations.

Following the reception, the couple left on a short wedding trip.

The bride is employed by the State Commission of Revenue and Taxation in Topeka and the groom will be stationed with the Army at Fort Lawton, Washington, after April 4.
