| Obituary- Baird, Vernon 2 VERNON W. BAIRD
Services were at 2 p.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church at Rossville for Vernon W. “Frog” Baird, 70, 3432 Bryant, Topeka, who died Tuesday, August 29, 1976 in a Topeka hospital.
He was born May 21, 1906 at Rossville and lived in Topeka since 1925. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a marble setter.
He was a member of Hesperian Lodge No. 111, AF&AM, at Rossville and Scottish Rite bodies in Topeka. He also was a member of Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville, and Local No. 3 of the Bricklayers Union.
He was married to Ernestine Sargent on December 23, 1941. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Vernon W. Baird, Jr., Rossville, and George Baird, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Miller, Lincoln, Nebr.; his mother, Mrs. Sadie Baird, Rossville; a brother, Charles Baird, Neosho, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Edna Verhage, Tonganoxie, Mrs. Grace Henneke, Houston, Tex., Mrs. Jean Mee, Goodwell, Okla., and Mrs. Wilma Dolezilek, Rossville; and four grandchildren.
Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion conducted graveside services at Rossville Cemetery under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Casket bearers were members of the American Legion Post in Rossville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.
