Mary and Kenneth Cowan will be celebrating their fortieth wedding anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving on Saturday, February 12, 1983, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Church in Rossville. Following the Mass, the couple will host a dinner for their family a the Knights of Columbus Hall in Topeka.
Kenneth Cowan and Mary Mattan were married February 12, 1943, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia, Ks. They are the parents of three daughters — Diane Elevier, Silver Lake, Vicki Wilson, Topeka, and Denise Denton, Silver Lake; and one son, Mark Cowan, Topeka. They have five grandchildren.

Kenneth Cowan and Mary C. Mat tan were married Feb. 12, 1943, at Sacred Heart Church, Delia. Mr. Cowan retired from Santa Fe Railway general offices in 1983 after 42 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines.

A spring wedding is planned by Vicki Marlene Cowan and Michael Steven Wilson, whose engagement is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth V. Cowan, Rossville. Mr. Wilson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack M. Wilson, Wamego.
Miss Cowan is a graduate of Rossville High School and attended Clark's School of Business. She is employed in the Santa Fe offices.
Mr. Wilson was graduated from Wamego High School and is serving in the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, Calif. |

Vicki Marlene Cowan and Michael Steven Wilson exchanged vows April 24, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Mary’s. The Rev Edward Thro officiated at the p.m. ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth V. Cowan Rossville, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack M. Wilson, Wamego.
The bride wore a floor-length Empire gown of organza. Re-embroidered lace trimmed the bishop sleeves, formed the yoke and standup collar and a wide inset of the chapel train. Lace appliques trimmed with pearls accented the gown and Chantilly lace edged the train and hemline. Her veil was caught to a headpiece of lace, pearls and organza loops and she carried a cascade of white roses, gardenias and stephanotis.
Mrs. Fred Elevier was her sister’s matron of honor and bridesmaids were another sister, Denise Cowan, Rossville, and Sharri Sage. Sheila Martinek, Rossville, was flower girl and Kerry Marney, also of Rossville, was ring bearer.
Fred Hines was best man. Groomsmen were Marvin Wilson, brother of the bridegroom, and Ben Brunner, both of Wamego. Fred Elevier and Keith Cowan, Rossville, seated the guests.
A reception in the Centennial building in St. Marys followed the ceremony.
Mrs. Wilson was graduated from Rossville High School and attended Clark’s School of Business. She is employed in the Santa Fe Offices. Mr. Wilson is a graduate of Wamego High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years.
The couple is at home at 900 Mulvane.
