Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bixby of Rossville will be honored with a dinner Sunday, February 14, at Silver Lake Cafe on their 64th wedding anniversary, given by their children. They will hold open house hours from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Silver Lake Cafe. Friends and relatives are invited to call. Mr. and Mrs. Bixby were married in St. Marys. They have lived in Rossville all their lives except for three years at Silver Lake. They are the parents of ten children, five boys and five girls. |

Miss Mabel Bixby and Mr. Otto Patton, were married Saturday March 18, in Lawrence, Kansas by the Rev. Seth Slaughter. Mrs. Slaughter being the only witness.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Bixby and was born and grew to womanhood in Rossville.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Paton [sic Patton] and was born and raised in this community and is an industrious young man.
Mr. and Mrs. Bixby are at present making their home with her uncle W.H. Bixby and Mrs. Bixby, but in the near future will move to the Walter Patton cottage in the west part of town. |

Mable F. Patton, 83, Topeka, died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, at her home.
Mrs. Patton had been a waitress at various diners and later worked for the Seymour Packing Plant in North Topeka for several years.
She was born Feb. 2,1914, at Rossville, one of 16 children born to Charles and Hattie Denton Bixby. She was raised in Rossville.
She married Osto H. Patton on March 20, 1932, in Lawrence. He died Feb. 4, 1978. Mrs. Patton also was preceded in death by an infant son, Howard Edward Patton, in January 1945.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Smith, Kingsville, Mo.; two brothers, Robert Bixby, Silver Lake, and Donald Bixby, Rossville; two sisters, Edna Taylor and Grace Bixby, both of Topeka; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six
great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial at Rossville Cemetery will be at a later date. Mr. Patton will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
