 | Obituary- Burton, Agnes 1 Mrs. Agnes Burton, died Thursday at a Topeka hospital where she had been admitted Sept.27th. She had an apparent Cerebral Ailment. Earlier she had suffered a broken hip. She was born Feb. 10, 1903 at Wamego. She moved to Rossville in 1960. She was nurses aide at Topeka State Hospital 20 years. She retired last winter. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge Silver Lake. Her husband Jess Burton died Nov. 20, 1940. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. June McCollough, Rossville, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Irwin Burton, Topeka, three brothers, Clarence Bretz and John Bretz of Wamego, Louis Bretz of Rossville, three granddaughters, four step grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Parkers Mortuary. Burial was at Auburn Cemetery at Auburn. |

Mrs. Agnes C. Burton, 65, Rossville, died Thursday in a Topeka hospital where she had been admitted Sept. 27. She had an apparent cerebral ailment. Earlier, Mrs. Burton had suffered a broken hip.
Born Feb. 10, 1903, at Wamego, she spent many years in Topeka before she moved to Rossville in 1960. Mrs. Burton was a nurses’s aide at the Topeka State Hospital 20 years, and prior to that worked at the U.S. Army Supply depot.
She was a member of Silver Lake Rebekah Lodge. Her husband, Jesse Burton, preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1940.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Fred McCollough, Rossville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Irwin Burton, Topeka; three brothers: Clarence Bretz and John Bretz, both of Wamego, and Louis Bretz, Rossville; three granddaughters; four step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday in a Topeka mortuary, with burial in the cemetery at Auburn.
