Germaine Dohrman Durow
Germaine Dohrman Durow, 94, died June 17, 2012, at Winter Meadow Homes in Topeka.
She was born Jan. 20, 1918, in St. Marys, the daughter of John and Mary Brunin Dohrman. She attended parochial schools in St. Marys, graduating from high school, and attended St. Marys College in Leaven¬worth two years.
Mrs. Durow taught all eight grades in a one-room school for two years, and then married Lloyd Durow on May 3, 1942. She was a stay-at-home mom, caring for their two sons and volunteering at Holy Name Church as well as volunteering for the Potwin Church Friendly Neighbor Lunch Program and Lets Help. Mrs. Durow was a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church and the Little Flower Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a Cub Scout den mother. Germaine enjoyed china painting and all kinds of other crafts.
Lloyd and Germaine were members of the Roll¬ing Sams Camping Club, spending the winters in the Rio Grande Valley.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Bill, Ray, Jack, Lee and Paul, and five sisters, Sally, Mary, Veronica, Monica and Catherine.
Germaine is survived by her husband, Lloyd, of the home; two sons, Richard Durow and wife Bob¬bie, and Terry Durow and wife Lois, all of Topeka; two sisters, Margaret Tomson of St. Marys and Dolores Floersch of Rossville; five grandchildren, Susan Hodge of Topeka, Brian Durow of St. Louis, Andrea Durow of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mike Durow of Flippen, Ark., and Heather Durow of Tulsa, Okla.; six great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 21 at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. Interment followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church Building Fund and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 W. Maple St, St. Marys, KS 66536.

Mrs. Durow will lie in state at the church after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday where there will be a rosary recited at 6:30 P.M.
