ROSSVILLE - Phyllis June McDiffett, 72, Rossville, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Rossville Valley Manor.
She was born Aug. 17, 1931, at Harveyville, the daughter of Arch and Maude DeWitt Easter. She had lived in the Rossville community since 1966.
She graduated from Council Grove High School. She and her husband moved to Rossville from Topeka in August 1966. She was a homemaker and seamstress, sewing for many years in the Rossville community. She was a member of the auxiliary to Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31, American Legion, at Rossville.
She married Earl McDiffett on Aug. 20, 1954, at Council Grove. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Steven and Bruce McDiffett, both of Rossville; a daughter-in-law, Cindy McDiffett, Rossville; a sister, Carol Tanner, Coos Bay, Ore.; and grandchildren, Josey and Trace.
Mrs. McDiffeett was cremated. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rossville United Methodist Church. Inurnment in the Rossville Cemetery will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heart of America Hospice or to Rossville Valley Manor, and sent in care of Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys.

In Memory Of
In memory of Phyllis McDiffett [sic], and with the assistance of the Booster Club, a new display case has been placed in the commons area. Phyllis was a big supporter of athletics at Rossville High School, especially basketball. In her memory the Booster Club would like to announce the "Performance Player of the Week." Every week throughout the basketball season 1 girl and 1 boy will be selected by their coaches as the RHS Performance Player of the Week. The basketball players will be judged on their performance:
