ST. MARYS - Stella M. Simecka, 86, St. Marys, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at a Rossville nursing home.
Mrs. Simecka had been a cook at St. Marys Schools, several area restaurants and the Sale Barn in St. Marys. She also was a custodian for different businesses in St. Marys and a care provider for the elderly in her home.
She was born March 24, 1910, at Pratt, the daughter of Everett and Lena Reed Manis. She was reared in Soldier and Buck Grove and was graduated from Soldier High School. She had lived at St. Marys many years.
Mrs. Simecka was a member of St. Marys United Methodist Church and was an active den mother in scouting.
She married Frank Simecka on Dec. 16, 1949. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Wanda Phillips, Biloxi, Miss., and Patricia Meyer, Lawrence; a son, Delbert J. Simecka, St. Marys; three brothers, Melvin Manis and Wayne Manis, both of Topeka, and Marvin Manis, Meriden; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
Services will be at .2 p.m. Thursday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery at St. Marys. Mrs. Simecka will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stella M. Simecka Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.

She was born March 24, 1910, at Pratt, the daughter of Everett and Lena Reed Manis.
She grew up in the Soldier and Buck Grove communities. She was graduated from Soldier High School. She was a cook for the St. Marys Schools, and had been a cook at several local restaurants and at the sale bam in St. Marys. She was a janitor for several dif¬ferent St. Marys businesses, and was a care giver for the elderly in her home for several years. She was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church. She had been active as a den mother in scouting.
She was married to Frank Simecka on December 16, 1949. He survives.
Other survivors are Wanda Phillips, Biloxi, Miss., and Patricia Meyer, Lawrence; one son, Delbert J. Simecka, St. Marys; three broth¬ers, Melvin Manis and Wayne Manis, Topeka, and Marvin Manis, Meriden; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her service was at 2:00 Thurs¬day, at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.
