• Documents		Obituary- Miller, Ada 1 Miller We have come this morning to remember the life of Ada Miller who gave her spirit up to the Lord this past Saturday, April 14. Ada was one of two children born to Frank and Sallie McAllister McKeever on April 13, 1905, at Soldier. She grew up and attended schools there. Ada was united in marriage with Roy C. Miller in Holton on November 24, 1937. One daughter was born to them. Roy preceded her in death on December 22, 1972. Prior to marriage, Ada taught school in Jackson and Brown Counties on the Fox and Sac Indian Reservations for 14 years. Then she moved with her husband to Delia. They came to live in the Holton community in 1962 after his retirement from the US Postal Service. Ada was active in the Crusaders Class of Evangel United Methodist Church where she was a member. In recent years, she had served on the Congregation's Pastor-Parish Relations Committee. Her passing will be deeply felt by her daughter, Sharon Miller of Columbus, Georgia; a step-daughter, Mrs. Maxine Trimble and her husband, Herbert, of Point Lookout, Missouri; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Davis of Goff; a niece, Virginia Elliott and her husband, Don, of Netawaka, as well as other relatives, former students and dear friends in the church and community including Joan Wheatley of Holton. As we pause in these moments to remember her life together, let us give thanks to God for her many days among us. She was a courageous woman of faith who, though she suffered much, complained little and proceeded to win battle after battle with one severe illness after another. She knew the miracle of God’s healing and comforting presence again and again, yet seldom experienced wellness for over 30 years. Transcending her physical condition, she invested herself in others through ceramics, her cooking and rose garden. She especially enjoyed travel with church groups and her family. May God bless us with her zest for life, her courage of faith and spirit of adventure. May we, too, experience the comfort of God’s presence and the healing of His loving kindness as she did. And may the benediction of His peace sustain and strangthen us through the storms of life even as He has lifted her to highest heaven. So be it. Amen. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, from The Mercer Funeral Home with the Rev. John Richter officiating. Burial was in the Holton Cemetery. Music was furnished by Keith Gilliland who sang “How Great Thou Art” and “In The Garden” and was accompanied by Mrs. Dolores Wright. Casketbearers were Terry Smith, Raymond Harshaw, Rodney Miller, Devere Miller, Lloyd Miller and Kenneth McKeever.
