Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Mitchell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner held Sunday, July 1, at their home. The couple's eight children and their families were present for the occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell were married at Alma on June 23. Hi06, and have lived most of their married site in the Maple Hill and Rossville communities. Mr. Mitchell is a retired farmer. There are 26 grand children and six great grandchildren.
Members of the family present for the dinner were: Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mitchell and family of Circleville. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Polson of Holton, Mrs. Ruby Adams and daughter from Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. John Howe from Willard, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Clark from Topeka, Mr. and Mrs. Tom O’Donnell, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Britt, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nadeau and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Olejnik and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mitchell and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olejnik and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Olejnik, all from Rossville.

ON 54th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. George Mitchell were honored guests at a dinner Sunday in celebration of their 54th wedding anniversary.
The dinner was given at the home of Mrs. Roxie Nadeau. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Tom 0 Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mitchell, Darryl, Diana, Debbie, and Darwin, Mrs. Ivan Britt, Mrs. Allan Rose, Stevie and Randy, Mrs. Bill Oleinik, Lila and Bobby, all of Rossville; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mitchell, Loren and David of Circleville, Mrs. Wayne Clark, Phil and Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mitchell, Rhonda and Brenda, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mitchell and Mike, Mrs. Jerry Lister, all of Topeka; Miss Jean Nadeau, Misses Salley and Susan Nadeau, Mike, David and Dennis Nadeau.

| Anniversary- Olejnik, Henry and Elvira Olejnik Couple Celebrated Golden Anniversary
Henry and Elvira Olejnik, Delia, observed their 50th wedding anniversary April 17.
They were guests of honor at a reception and dinner Saturday, April 8, at the American Legion Hall in Rossville. The events were hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and George Moreland, Weston, Mo., and granddaughters, Shannon Moreland, Kansas City, Mo., and Natalie Moreland, Southwest State University, Missouri.
Elvira Mitchell and Henry Olejnik were married April 17, 1945, Topeka. They lived on a farm near Rossville until they moved to Delia 1987. Mr. Olejnik is retired from Western Foundry and Machine Works
Topeka.

Delia- Elvara Louella Olejnik, 79, Delia, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at a St. Marys nursing home.
Mrs. Olejnik had worked for the Seymour Factory and Jones-Mack Furniture Store, both in Topeka.
She was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Centralia, the daughter of George and Ethel Lister Mitchell. She was a longtime resident of Delia.
Mrs. Olejnik was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church and the Moravan Lodge No. 128 in Rossville.
She married Henry Olejnik on April 17, 1945, in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Moreland, Weston, Mo.; a brother, Ted Mitchell, Maple Hill; three sisters, Velda O'Donnell, Paxico, Roxie Banta, Silver Lake, and Ruby Adams, Portland, Ore.; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will be at the Czech Moravan Cemetery north of Rossville. Mrs. Olejnik will lie in state after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys Manor or to Midland Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home. |
