HALSTEAD — Memorial services are pending at Minden, Neb., for Mrs. Jessie Sallee Hamilton, 101, Halstead, formerly of Rossville. She died Sunday, Dec. 28, at a Halstead nursing home.
Mrs. Hamilton spent four years teaching in Nebraska elementary schools.
She was born May 9, 1885, at Marble Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Elinor Sallee. She was graduated from Nora Springs, Iowa, High School with honors and attended Kearney State College at Kearney, Neb.
Mrs. Hamilton was a member of Kingsdown Presbyterian Church. She was a student of the Bible and a former short story writer.
She was married to Edgar M. Hamilton March 17, 1909, at Minden, Neb. They farmed near Minden until 1939 when they retired and moved to Fresno, Calif. He died Nov. 4, 1951. Three children also preceded her in death, John Hamilton and Janet Hamilton in infancy and Earl Hamilton in 1971.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Martha C. Adair, Halstead; two sons, Dr. Ralph S. Hamilton, White Bear Lake, Minn., and Marion E. Hamilton, Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hamilton was cremated, and inurnment will be later in a Minden, Neb., cemetery. Kaufman Mortuary of Halstead was in charge of arrangements.

Jessie Sallee Hamilton, 101, died at the Regency Health Care Facility, Halstead, on Sunday, Dec. 28, 1986. Jessie May Sallee was born to Andrew and Elinor Sallee on May 9, 1885, at Marble Rock, Iowa. She graduated from Nora Springs, Iowa High School with honors and spent four years teaching in elementary schools in Nebraska. On March 17, 1909 she was united in marriage to Edgar M. Hamilton, a farmer residing at Minden, Neb. They lived on a farm near Minden until 1939, when they retired and moved to Fresno, Calif.
To this union were born six children. Mr. Hamilton and three of the children preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the Kingsdown, Kan., Presbyterian Church. She was a student of the Bible and at one time a writer of short stories. She was never able to attend college long enough to receive a degree, but she was an admirer and promoter of education. She was interested in geneology and studying the stars.
Surviving Mrs. Hamilton are: two sons, Dr. Ralph S. Hamilton, White Bear Lake, Minn., and Marion E. Hamilton, Syracuse, Kan.; a daughter, Martha C. Adair, Halstead; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place in Wichita. The inurnment and memorial service will be at Minden, Neb., at a later date.
