Married 50 Years
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zlatnik of Delia will be honored Sunday, September 22, with a Golden Wedding Anniversary reception from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Delia Grade School. The reception will be given by their children; Lavern Zlatnik, Delia; Mrs. Rosella Hoglund, Overland Park; Leland Zlatnik, Topeka; Mrs Evelyne Parkerson, Decatur, Ga.; Mrs. Mary Alice Huntsman, Halstead; Mrs. Judith Macha, Arlington Heights, Ill., and their families.
Mr. and Mrs. Zlatnik were married September 24, 1924 in Delia. They have lived all fifty years at the same farm home. They have fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 | Anniversary- Zlatnik, Joseph and Cecile 3 Joseph and Cecile Zlatnik celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary quietly at home on Saturday, September 24.
On Sunday morning after church services where they had been recognized by the congregation and congratulated by their friends, they returned to the home of Laverne and Velma Zlatnik. Soon the other members of the family began to arrive with baskets of food for a reunion.
Those attending were Rosella and Harold Hoglund and son Douglas, Overland Park; Leland and JoAnn Zlatnik and son Aaron, Miss Judy Harris, Mary Alice and David Huntsman and daughters Brenda and Laura, Judith and Garry Macha and sons Brent and Geogary; Mark Zlatnik and children Julie, Sheila, Scott and Melissa, Carolyn and Jeff Johnston, and Alan and Tammy Zlatnik, all of Topeka.
One daughter, Evelyn Parkerson, Decatur, Ga., was not able to come at this time. She plans to come in October so that she can attend the Keller reunion also which will be October 9.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rossee, Holton, were afternoon callers.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thompson, Riverside, Calif., plan to arrive in Rossville October 7 when they can attend the Keller reunion and spend a week visiting relatives and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zlatnik, Delia, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 23 in Delia Community Center.

C. David and Mary Alice Huntsman, Topeka, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to central Florida with their daughter’s family, Laura and Scott Williams and Spencer and Lauren, of Olathe.
Another daughter, Brenda Dunlap, resides in Topeka.
Charles David Huntsman and Mary Alice Zlatnik were married Sept. 13,1953, at First Presbyterian Church in Delia with die Rev. Orlo Choguill officiating.
Both are retired.

 | Obituary- Huntsman, Mary Mary Alice Huntsman Obituary
Mary Alice Huntsman passed away at her home in Topeka, KS on April 6th, 2023, following a
stroke. She was born at her home in Delia, KS on October 11, 1931, to her parents Joseph and
Cecil Olina Thompson Zlatnik. She was preceded in death by brothers Laverne and Roger and
sisters Evelyne and Judith, and a foster sister, Della Blodgett. She is survived by her husband,
Charles David Huntsman, daughters Brenda Dunlap and Laura Williams (Scott), sister Rosella
Hoglund, grandchildren Spencer Williams and Lauren Keepes (Brad), seventeen nieces and
nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
She married the love of her life, Dave, on September 13, 1953, in Delia, KS. They were
married for 69 years. In her free time, she belonged to PEO, Trinity Presbyterian Church,
Topeka, KS, First Presbyterian Church, Halstead, KS, First Presbyterian Church, Topeka, KS,
traveled the US with Dave, spent many enjoyable hours in her flower beds and vegetable
gardens, creatively cooked, once winning a chili contest, and sewed countless special garments
for her daughters and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She learned to knit from her
high school English teacher, Mrs. Penner, and made Santa stockings for her daughters, all her
nieces and nephews and many friends’ children. She was also an avid reader reading
everything from Agatha Christie to world history to medical journals. Her favorite thing to read
though, were biographies.
Following high school, Mary Alice went to business school, and later trained to become a
medical secretary. She started her career at the Kansas State Board of Health. While Dave was
in the Air Force, they lived in Arlington, VA, and she worked for a General Practice in
Washington D.C., and U.S. Representative Joel Broyhill. Following Dave’s separation from the
Air Force, Mary Alice worked for several specialties in the medical field including Orthopedics,
Thoracic surgery, Radiology, Neurology-Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry at Menninger Clinic,
Topeka, KS.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 12, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Garden
House at Lake Shawnee, 3720 SE Yacht Club Court, Topeka, KS 66609.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
