    Mrs. Ethyl M. Davis

    ROSSVILLE -- Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rossville Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Ethyl M. Davis, 81, Rossville. She died Friday, April 7, 1989, at a Topeka hospital.

    Mrs. Davis was in charge of licensing nursing homes in northeast Kansas at the time of her retirement in October 1972. She previously was employed by the Topeka YWCA, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and the Adult Care Department.

    She was born Oct. 16, 1907, at Higginsville, Mo., the daughter of Fred H. and Mary Wegener Biesemeyer. She moved to Kansas at an early age and was graduated from McCracken High School. She attended Topeka Business College.

    Mrs. Davis was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Organization at the church. She served seven years as treasurer of the Women’s Organization.

    She was married to John P. Davis Nov. 13, 1952. He survives.

    Other survivors include two sons, Clarence S. Gerberick, Bath, Maine, and Fred H. Davis, Harrisonville, Mo.; a sister, Mary Lou Stoffel, Austin, Texas; three stepbrothers, and three grandchildren.

    Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Davis will lie in state after 11 a.m. today at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where relatives and friend will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. today. She also will lie in state from 1 p.m. to the service time Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville Presbyterian Church at Rossville.
