    Mrs. Pollyann Kemp
Mrs. Pollyann Kemp, 89, widow of the late “Newt” Kemp, passed away Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Short in St. Marys. Mrs. Kemp was the only surviving Gold Star mother of the first World War in St. Marys township. Their son, Pvt. Floyd Kemp, a favorite among local baseball fans, was killed in action in the Argonne Forest a few days before the signing of the Armistice in 1918. In his memory the Kemps gave the bell which is heard every Sabbath from the tower of the Methodist Church in St. Marys.

Her funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Kemp was an aunt of Mrs. Joe Navarre and Mrs. Dewey Maupin, of Silver Lake.
