JoAnn Nitsch
Delia—JoAnn Nitsch, 79, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at a Topeka Hospital.
She was born June 2, 1937 at Beloit, the daughter of Gail and Delila Colby Hyman. She grew up in the Beloit community and lived there many years before moving to Topeka and then Delia in 1972.
JoAnn was the bookkeeper for Nitsch Trash Service for many years. She also had been a cook at the Rossville Senior Center. JoAnn was a member of the Delia Presbyterian Church and the Delia Pride Committee.
On January 29, 1971 she was united in marriage to John I. Nitsch at Lincoln, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Bob, Ronnie, Gail and Dale Hyman; a daughter, Kim Creipe, on September 3, 2011; a son, Joe Caraway, January 6, 2014 and a grand-daughter, Kayla Caraway.
Survivors include four sons, Jim, Rick and Tom Caraway and John E. “Dink” Nitsch; five brothers, Darrel “Heavy” Hyman, Edwin “Whitey” Hyman, Morris Hyman, Wayne Hyman and Raymond Hyman; a sister, Mary Mallory; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorial visitation will be on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Inurnment will be in the Delia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delia Pride Committee and sent in care of the funeral home
