Obituary- Wilson, Andrew
Death of Andy Wilson.
Mr. Andrew Wilson, known at one time throughout the state as the cattle king of Kansas, died last Sunday morning at 4 o'clock, from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy at his home in North Topeka. From 1869 until very recently Mr. Wilson has lived on his cattle ranch three miles south of Rossville, consequently he is well known to our citizens. The ranch embraced 6,000 acres of land and was one of the most extensive and perfect stock ranches in the state. Andy Wilson has probably handled as many cattle, transacted as much business and counted as much money in his career as any one man in our fair, young commonwealth. Mr. Wilson was a great Democrat and in 1876 gave the largest barbecue every held in the state at his farm near this city. Since that time he has met with many reverses and his splendid farm was sacrificed to satisfy creditors. He was forty-five years old at the time of departing this life and leaves a wife and six children.
