Obituary- Aye, Alice 1

Alice Aye

Mrs. Alice Aye, 76, passed away last Friday, Dec. 5, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Engberg, in Kansas City, Mo., following a short illness. While she had been in poor health for about three months, she was dangerously ill only a short time.

Aliday A. Stroup was born in Indiana, March 20, 1854. She came to Kansas with her parents, in 1861.

She was married to Wm. M. Aye January 9, 1878, and to this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Emma Engberg and one daughter who died in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Aye came to Rossville about 30 years ago from Maple Hill. Mr. Aye opened up a harness shop which he conducted for about 25 years until his health failed him.

Mrs. Aye was a member of the Presbyterian church and had lived true to her faith, her everyday life showing the depth of her Christian character. The funeral services were held at the Rossville Presbyterian church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. H.L. Nelson of Topeka.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Leo Berry, Mrs. Wm. Hesse, Miss Grace Sanders, Mrs. Peter Navarre with Mrs. Homer Reid at the piano.

The pallbearers were Messrs. A.B. Jamieson, Harry James, Frank Zook, Harvey James, Roy Trostle and Wm. Howerton.
