Obituary- Strimple, Paul 1
Rev. Paul Strimple Dead
After an illness of several weeks duration Rev. Paul Strimple died Saturday afternoon. The immediate cause of his death was pneumonia although he was subject to bronchitis and was troubled some by his heart. Rev. Strimple was a man about 84 years of age. He was one of the earliest settlers of this vicinity having come here in May of 1870. The greater part of his life had been spent in the ministry of the Methodist church of which he represented the old order of ministers. He had the honor of preaching the first protestant sermon in St. Marys and preached the second Methodist sermon in Rossville. He retained through life the friendship of a multitude of friends made through his long years of work for the advancement of his church.
Of late years Rev. Strimple has made his home with his son John and daughter Eve in Greenwood county. He was the father of a family of 12 children, of whom 7 boys and 2 girls are living to mourn his loss. Those of the children who live in this vicinity are: F.E., Gene, Bartha, Jesse and a grandson, Roscoe. The remains were taken to Neal, Greenwood county, Kansas, for burial Monday. The Reporter extends to the relatives the sympathy of the community.
