Obituary- Sumner, Maude

Mrs. Maude Sumner
HOLTON -- Mrs. Maude E. Sumner, 84, Route 1, Holton, died Saturday at her home about a mile south of here.

She was born April 25, 1891, in Adrian Township in Jackson County and spent her life in Jackson County. She was a member of Pottawatomie United Methodist Church west of Mayetta.

She was married to Walter L. Sumner April 4, 1910, in Topeka. He died March 26, 1972.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ethel J. Lutz, Holton; and seven sons, John M. Sumner, Cheyenne, Wyo., M.W. "Ted" Sumner, Hereford, Texas, Raymond A. Sumner, Tacoma, Wash., Everett L. Sumner, Rossville, Charles R. Sumner, Delia, Donald L. Sumner, 816 N.E. 43rd Topeka, and William H. Sumner, Silver Lake.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Nellie P. West, Stanton, Calif., and Mrs. Floye E. Wood, 1433 N. Central, Topeka; a brother, Ray Murrow, Tempe, Ariz., 33 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Christian Church at Rossville. Burial will be in Delia Cemetery.

Mrs. Sumner will like in state from 1 p.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Monday at Mercer Funeral Home at Holton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Heart Association and sent in care of the Kansas State Bank at Holton or People's State Bank at Rossville.
