Obituary- Worthington, Walter

W.B. Worthington

Mr. Walter B. Worthington, who suffered his second stroke of paralysis last Thursday, passed away Friday night at his home on the Abe Patterson farm west of Rossville.

In his passing Rossville losses one of its highly respected citizens and a mighty good farmer.

Walter Bruce Worthington was born near Paoli, Indiana, December 28, 1857. Died in Rossville, Kansas, March 20, 1926, age, 68 years, 2 months and 20 days.

In 1870, at the age of 13, he came to Kansas with his parents and five sisters. They stopped in Lecompton, but later settled in Medina. In 1882 he came to Rossville and has resided in this vicinity continuously since that time.

In 1884 he was married to Mame Mostoller, and to this union four children were born, the only son dying in infancy.

Surviving him are the widow, two sisters, Mrs. Mary McCoy of Ozawkie Kansas and Mrs. Emma Johnson, of Carols, Washington; three daughters, Blanche Gilbert of Oklahoma City, Maude Reinhardt, of Topeka, and Faye Wilder of Pauline; two granddaughters.

Funeral services were held at the Rossville Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock Monday, March 22, conducted by the Rev. H.L. Nelson, pastor of the Potwin Presbyterian church, Topeka. Burial was in Rossville cemetery.

Out-of-town friends here for the funeral were: Mrs. F.H. Watt, Mrs. J.I. Davis, Mrs. F.H. Heere, Mr. John C. Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thomas, all of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bouchey, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kitt, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bergstrom, all of Maple Hill.
