Deaths and Funerals
Mary Clardy
Mary Jones was born in Lincoln County, Kentucky, April 19, 1879, and departed this life July 9, at St. Francis hospital in Topeka at the age of over 46 years.
She was married to Nolan Cladry [sic] at Topeka August 4, 1897, coming to Rossville where they made their home until 1910 when they moved to the present home six miles south of St. Marys.
In 1909 Mary Clardy professed religion and joined the C.M.E. church of Paxico, in which she was a conscientious and untiring worker until ill health kept her from the services.
Mary Clardy was a mother to the motherless and reared her niece and nephew, Marie and Alfred Jones. In February, 1916, Aline Clardy became their adopted daughter. Since the death of her sister, Mattie Jones Bowen, she has done much to smooth the motherless pathway of Thelma, Genevieve and Wilma Bowen.
Ever ready to do her bit and more than willing to do a helpful and kind deed made her loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, an adopted daughter, one sister, Mrs. Ethel Noble of Kansas City, three brothers, Chas. of Omaha; Walter and Arch of Rossville, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. McCrea at the home and interment was in Rossville cemetery.
