Obituary- Orris, Catherine

Died, Friday, January 18th, '89, Catherine Ellen Orris, wife of Calvin Orris of this township, aged 85 years 6 months and [ ] days. Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. A tender and appropriate discourse was preached by the Rev. W.M. Howell, in which comfort to the surviving relatives and well-grounded assurance for every true Christian was drawn from the great resurrection doctrine. Stress was placed upon the fact that the apostles and early Christians in general seldom spoke of departed friends as being dead, but as those who "slept." The resurrection body with all its glories was spoken of; also the better life that awaits the awakened saints in that home beyond the grave. In speaking of the deceased he told of her faithfulness in the discharge of religious and other duties, of her calm farewell to her family - as they stood around her dying couch, -- and of that peaceful and triumphant end which enabled her to say as the hour of departure drew near: "All is well. I am ready to go and meet my Master."
